Why Factory Sourcing Is Not Enough
A capable supplier is essential, but supplier selection does not manage technical interpretation, prototype control, production readiness, quality evidence, engineering changes, or coordination across multiple factories.
Direct factory management can work when requirements are stable, internal resources are available in China, and one supplier owns the complete scope. Specialty mobile-unit programs often have the opposite conditions: application-specific parts, multiple interfaces, evolving details, specialized volumes, and little tolerance for late surprises.
